PeetoMay Accounting Services, LLC has been a pipe dream for over two decades and has now manifested with the help of Almighty God. The name was formed in memory of two hardworking, diligent women that inspired my early years and remain very close to my heart - my late mother, Mrs. Theresa Peters (fondly known by her kids and close family members as Peeto), and my late aunt, Mrs. Mary Phillips (fondly known by her nieces and nephews as Aunty May). They were fun, loving, caring, optimistic and extremely generous women. I remain forever grateful for the strict discipline instilled in me by my aunts (including my mom’s other affectionate sister, Mrs. Gertrude Benjamin, fondly known as Aunty Oti) and other family members and for having such love and gracious nurturing in my life.

About the Owner

My name is Harriet Daphne Johnson (née Peters). My educational journey started off at the International School, Freetown, Sierra Leone (elementary school). For middle and high school, I attended the prestigious Annie Walsh Memorial School, Freetown, Sierra Leone and did almost a year at the Albert Academy, Freetown, Sierra Leone. I also went to boarding school for a year at the renowned Queen’s College, Yaba, Lagos during the civil war in Sierra Leone. By the age of 18 years old, I moved to the United States and attended the United World College for 2 years and obtained my International Baccalaureate diploma from the famed United World College, Montezuma, New Mexico. This was a life-changing experience for me as I was fortunate to interact, live and study with almost 200 students from all over the world (approximately 95 countries in total). For college, I attended a private college called Berea College in Berea, Kentucky.

After graduating in three and a half years, I got my start with one of the Big 4 accounting firms – Ernst & Young, Louisville, KY and obtained my CPA shortly thereafter in 2006. I later did a secondment at the Ernst & Young in Toronto, Canada where I was able to build on my accounting and auditing skills for a variety of industries locally and internationally. I moved to a slower pace with Bank of Montreal doing internal audits before moving back to the United States with my husband to continue my career and educational pursuits. Since my return and after being blessed with 3 kids, I obtained my MBA, my Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) certification and became a licensed insurance agent for life and annuities in Virginia.
